Downgrading Philips 50PUS7303 to Android 7

by benXgunpla

TL;DR Tv now on Oreo, it’s bad, I need to downgrade to Android 7.
Two days ago I made the mistake to update my Philips "Smart" Tv to Oreo... that was a bad decision.
Since then I can't use my 3.5mm jack audio system normally without buying an Amplifier or a new Sound system with HDMI ARC/Optical.
To control the volume I now have to go through settings each time, they call that an update...

I found some old posts with people facing the same issues, and downgrading seems to be the best way to revert that mess, unfortunately for me, nobody explained how they manage to downgrade.

Does anybody know the way to do this ? You would save me a lot of € and time.

My TV is a Philips 50PSU7303 bought in France.

Contact Phillips support. You may have to try a few times, but last time they eventually sent me a link to a file that restores my TV to the original firmware. You can then "upgrade" to the version you fancy using offline update packages on Phillip's website.

Hi, just follow this tutorial, it worked for me, just make sure that your USB drive is formatted with FAT filesystem and MBR. https://toengel.net/philipsblog/philips-downgrade-mit-upgrade-loader/

It acts as an HDMI arc sound system with this tv and you can control the volume with tv remote as normal. The volume control doesn't appear on the screen though but still actually changes.

You can plug in 3.5mm Jack or phono.

I face the same problem. I cant change the volume anymore with my smartphone that i use for casting content. This is so ridiculous, more like a bug than a feature.
