Cheap TV with AndroidTV built in?

by rselover

I'm on the verge of buying a TCL Roku TV, but am curious about AndroidTV options

https://www.amazon.com/TCL-55S405-55-Inch-Ultra-Smart/dp/B01MTGM5I9/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?keywords=tcl+49+inch+4k&qid=1556278807&s=electronics&sr=1-2-spons&psc=1

Here's the best option I can find on BestBuy ($479), but wondered if there's a cheaper alternative

Also... are they really putting ads on all AndroidTVs? Any brands that haven't done this?

never buy a TV for its smarts. buy a tv with the best picture in your budget, consider smarts after. if it already has AndroidTV, all well and good.

I have a Phillips 55 inch with Android YV built in and it works pretty well, it can even run games like Riptide GP, of course not it's no where near as fast as the Shield that I use on another TV but it's enough for regular use

Roku also has ads on their home screen so you are not saving yourself from them by going with Roku

Still take Nvidia Shield over any other crap all yay everday

Those with performance complaints: might seem silly but would this work-

Use ATV for general controls/Google assistant, then Chromecast video? I only really use Netflix but want integration and control

TCL it is! Thanks for the advice gang

Smart TV is becoming more and more annoying nowadays. Every time it starts, it has a long advertising time. So I can only use it as a display screen, which is what it should do.
