How does this compare to ATV devices other than the shield? If I don't want to shell out for another shield is this the next best option for our bedroom TV?

I just got one of these free through Sling and it's complete garbage. Apps crash constantly and I have to hard reset.

I bought one from Living Social a couple weeks ago. You won't get the $30 adapter to make it work. They will blame the 3rd party vendor, however they will not give you their contact information nor offer a resolution. After several attempts and continued runaround, I gave up and used it as another Android TV box.
