Since I was not streaming anything, I did not take any chance , but now I have to subscribe to a very legal streaming service, so I will have to re-able my internet connection on my TV and I am afraid that any OS update will block Kodi.

Sony was never "blocking" Kodi.

There was an early Oreo build for a few select Sony TVs in the US that had an incredibly stupid bug which would prevent Kodi from installing - it wasn't targeted at Kodi, it was simply affected due to a part of its package name.
Sony isn't blocking Kodi, they likely never even accidently did so on your TV and the one, single affected build isn't rolling out anywhere as far as I know.
You can connect your TV to the Internet, you can update it to any build and you really don't have to worries about Kodi.
