Telling google assistant to "shut down the tv" does not work anymore ?

by eljuggy

EDIT : solved by going to About in Settings and changing device name from 'MIBOX3' to 'TV'.

Now I can say "turn off the TV".

Note that saying "turn off MIBOX 'three' " did not work as confirmed in the thread.

(NB, I'm french : it's not TV but "tele", but my guess is that it would work the same)

Now google assistant answers it does not find "tv" device... it seems the assistant is now looking for a google home device and not basically sending a CEC command to switch off my connected tv...

Found the issue on a MIBOX3 ...

Is working for me with a Bravia

Works for me "Hey Google, Turn off the TV" or "Hey Google, turn off SHIELD TV" or "Hey Google, turn off SHIELD".

Clearly, I use a SHIELD TV, but I also use a Google Home Mini to control it.

In my case it only works when I add the location, like "shut off the TV in the bedroom"

stillcantpickaname

sleep turns everything off for me.

"Turn off Nexus Player" still works for me. I'm pretty sure it looks for what you have it named in the Home app.

This hasn't worked on the Sony Android TV right from the get go.

Typical broken google shit :(

DrHousesRightLeg

It's never worked on my MiBox 3.

Maybe try "Turn off (insert device name here)" instead?

It works fine on my MiBox3 and MiBoxS
