Problems after Update TCL android TV

by RobKenobi

Hi guys, i've recently updated my TCL U65X9006 and usually i use WD hard disk (4tb). Everything good before the update but after that the TV say to me that the Hard disk is damaged. I've tried to delete Android folder but nothing. I've already try with another HD (Western Digital 1tb) and it works. I've tried with Another 4tb WD and i have the same message. Obviously everything works good on other devices. I don't know what to do! Seems that my tv doesn't like those two HDD

NTFS won't work with Oreo... Only the native player will play the media in the NTFS drive.

To make NTFS drive work on Oreo try installing

  1. Total commander and
  2. Paragon.

Both are available in play store.

I don't know about this specific update and model, but I had the same issue - see https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/baratu/how_to_roll_back_to_an_older_version_of_androidtv/

In general the Oreo version of Android removed the NTFS file format support, which is used by 99% of hard drives and USB sticks. You can reformat the drive to FAT32 file format but it is slower and doesn't support files larger than 4GB and drives larger than 2TB.

My VU Premium Android tv (launched this March) also shows that the disk is corrupted but still opens it and everything works fine. I am using Seagate 2TB BUP Slim (recently got it replaced under warranty twice so can't risk it again and the warranty period's expired now). Therefore, I am since in fear of using it with tv. Should I need to pair a voltage stabilizer too with my tv ? I was told by the installation guys that I should use a stabilizer for safe use. Do modern TVs need a voltage stabilizer to overcome device connectivity issues? I think it's a myth or is it?

Off topic.

Is this the latest qled model? If yes, then how's the display quality and did you compare it with some specific sony/lg/samsung tv model?

I've a 65" led tv from tcl. The display sucks ass and software even more so and inbuilt speakers are the worst I've seen in a tv. :(
