MiBox (not S) A terrible slow loading for YouTube

by grzesiczek1

I run most recent OS version at MiBox. All works just fine. Power On, Remote, Netflix, HBO GO - all as it should run but... but YouTube keeps loading videos for minutes.

Anyone had similar problem and idea how to resolve it?? I can literally start YouTube video, make five minutes break and then keep waiting for it to start. Doesn't happen at any other app.

All help is greatly appreciated.

Factory reset or install Smart YouTube TV.

4 Mi boxes 3 and 1 Mi box 4, 1 Shield TV have no similar issues. Inside app navigation is same as on Shield TV. Cold boot of app takes 3 sec to load on Mi boxes 5 sec on Shield. Loading videos the same speed. I have a very good mesh network on my home and the worst psysical network speed between the device and access point is 390/433mpbs. The best is 890mbps. Actual speed to internet 200 down 10 up.

Sometimes I had with Shield TV problems and with my Nexus Player. I have set static IP addresses on each Android TVs and all are smooth now. Also DNS 1.1.1.1 , 1.0.0.1 from Cloudflare or 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 from Google.

Set static IP to your devices, different for every device I have OneNote cheat sheet the name of device and his static IP for each one. Restart your devices and your whole network. Set the quality to auto. Clear data of Youtube app going in settings, apps and find at the bottom the YouTube app. Connect to 5Ghz network too. Huge difference.

Last month buffering stoped on some videos randomly like the connection stoped but immediately I select the video and starts and playing flawlessly. Something maybe with their algorithms and buffering. Also check from stats for nerds menu the codec of the video. Sometimes AVC1 videos if not converted to VP9 like a video just minutes uploaded to Youtube creates playing stuttering on Mi boxes. Exit the video and playing again fixes the problem. Any problem I had with video or sound a restart always fixes it.

Also check if some app you side load runs in the background as malware or downloading video ads for your pirated movie APK...

Also Twitch app creates problems on playback on other apps. From luck I read it here in a scrolling and one day Youtube displayed black screen for every video. I uninstall the Twitch app returned to YouTube without even force stop and all videos loading. After 2 days I reinstall the Twitch app but now they had reverted to old UI before the last redesign. So they pulled back the update. After one week they re-release the update but now if I play some videos on Twitch and return to YouTube nothing going crazy.
