Stock YT plays the HDR content well but any other attempt to play the same like in Smart YT leaves the picture washed out as it would look in a standard pc monitor. Do I need to install vp9 Codec or something similar from somewhere that will resolve this issue ?
What TV do you have. My Sony requires some adjustments to the settings to make YouTube hdr look like it should
