Absolute newbie in relation to the Android OS in TV’s here. Planning on buying a 2nd hand 49X75F that is only 5mths old and in perfect nick. Do I have to be sure that all accounts have been logged out of and I won’t encounter any locked features due to previous owner perhaps still logged in ? As I said absolute newbie with regards to Android anything but choosing this OS due to all the positive reviews I read when compared to WebOs and Tizen. Thanks in advance.
You should be able to get away with going into Settings and deleting any Google logins and clearing app data. There isn't a lockscreen password or file encryption to worry about.
If the previous owner did something "weird" with sideloaded apps that persists beyond those steps, there's always a factory reset as a last resort; but it shouldn't be needed.
Pretty much check OS version, know that with oreo your external drives may not be read by anything other than the default media player. Test bluetooth with some bluetooth earphones if you need.
Other than that, a factory reset will wipe anything the owner had on it, so perhaps test stuff and then wipe and check that all is good after the reset.
Depending on model, be sure to get any manuals etc with incase you need to repair the bluetooth controller, not always easy. Its often the small things you dont think of until you need solutions that can be annoying lol
That’s good to know. My only Smart TV experience is with a Samsung since 2013 so the Android OS is gonna be a bit overwhelming at first and I am sure I will use about 10% of its capabilities. I just want an OS that will supported for a decent period of time. The only downside I see with the Android OS in a budget TV is the processor will need a bit help by disabling shit I won’t use either ever or rarely. Do you see any other issues I need my eyes opened to so I don’t sink my boot into the screen because I can’t figure it out?
Most of the time we recommend getting an external Android TV box, because the built in version is mostly shit.
