Sleep timer on AndroidTV TVs (like Sony, Philips, TCL)

by joserzc

Hi! I have a TCL C2US which came with Android TV 6.0 and no sleep timer options which is a must have for me. Then the manufacturer upgraded it to 7.0 and they put a setting under Screensaver, but having to set it everytime it's kind of annoying, and this has not changed after oreo update.

I'm looking for an app that turns off screen an hour after my last interaction. I wonder how this works in Sony and Philips displays. Do you have the same problem? Any solution?

(Additionally I've made an app for this but having some trouble with turning screen off without root)

On a Sony TV it's under a energy saving function. Turns off the TV a set amount of time of inactivity (no input from the remote)

How about invoking the Google assistant saying 'Turn Off'

If you're in hdmi source with no device connected to hdmi.. Tv will turn off automatically after 5 minutes

Hello there, I feel you. I had the same issue with my 49 inch tcl android TV. I'm not sure if you have updated your sw, but in my TV the sleep timer shows under Settings> Screen Saver> Sleep timer. Then you setup the time and continue watching TV. Hope this helps.

Turn on CEC on your Android TV and your TV. Then set your screensaver to turn off the screen when sleeping. This'll shut your tv off when sleeping.
