Shield -> TV + Soundbar (connected through ARC) "One Remote to rule them all"?

by Daell

My question is, if i want to use the setup in the topic, so i connect the Shield to the TV and the TV is connected to the Soundbar with ARC. Can i use the Shield's remote to control the volume which suppose to control the soundbar volume as well?!

Update: as i see the Shield's remote is kinda basic, i would use a G20 instead.

Also can the Shield wake up the TV? My goal is to bypass the Bravia's internal Android TV as much as possible.

Fire TV remote, controls everything for me including TV power and sound bar

I am running it like Shield --> Soundbar (HDMI) --> Bravia (HDMI ARC)

The Shield remote is the only one you will need.

I have a £9 DroiX remote that does everything. Right down to voice control “turn off tv”

It works. Shield connected by arc to tv. I can control volume of my yamaha soundbar, and turn off the tv.

Yes you can, also look into sony touch remote rmf-tx.... it works really well with the shield (I have a sony tv to which it is paired)

Arc goes both ways

As long as everything in the chain supports CEC, you're good.

Keep in mind that CEC can be kind of fiddly between devices, though. My TV (an older Vizio) can power on and change inputs via CEC commands from the Shield, but can't change volume.
