Ad-less YouTube for AndroidTV?

by hydraSlav

I really don't have a problem with ads or evil Google tracking my watching habits, so for my main devices I never bothered to look past the stock apps.

However I now have a MiBox in the car for the kids, hooked through phone's data plan, and suddenly efficient bandwidth utilization is a priority. That means:

- No ads

- Ability to restrict upper resolution

- Still linked to my YouTube account (the only way kids can find what to watch is through suggestions/recommendations feed from my account)

Any suggestions? Preferably something that navigates similar to the stock app.

If you pay for YouTube Premium there's no ad's. As for the resolution I'm not sure if you can set a max in the stock Android TV YouTube app, but you could just set the output resolution for the Android TV to whatever the max streaming resolution you want and that would accomplish the same thing wouldn't it? Unless you're also streaming other stuff to the Car Mi Box, or playing local content that you'd like in higher resolution... But I doubt you are since we're probably dealing with a tiny car screen.

You can set your resolution and there are no ads in Smart YouTube tv app.

I use YouTube vanced (no ads you see) and newpipe (can download audio and video through)

Maybe a dumb question but, it is safe to log into Google account with these modified apps?
