I'm finally delving into TV boxes and am getting the Mi Box S soon but I've been told that the remote doesn't have an IR emitter so you can't turn the TV on aside from using the HDMI feature. Are there any decent remote alternatives/replaces for the Mi Box S/Android TV that has an IR?
I ordered a Foonee G20 , works like a charm!! Uses USB, so with only 1 USB port that could be a downside?
I am using a xiaomi phone which phones with IR blaster and android tv app.
I use a Harmony universal remote with my MI Box S. I had to add it to the Hub as a Nexus Player though. But it works great.
I have a fairly complex setup. I ended up buying the Jetstream Android TV box from Walmart. It is about the same as the Mi box but has IR. I can use any of the Harmony IR based remotes. The Jetstream tries to get you to pair the remote upon startup but if you exit out, it functions as a normal IR. Hope this helps.
FireTV remote has IR, but you need a FireTV to set it up. The non 4k Stick is currently on sale for $30 with the updated remote, 4k Stick for $40.
The remote by itself was on sale in January for $15, that'll probably happen again.
Mi Box S doesn't ha IR receiver. Your TV does not support HDMI-CEC?
