You can't change 长虹's software version. All Android devices sold in China are only used for Chinese users with its customised ROM. In this case as a TV system, everytime you connect this tv to internet, it needs to pass China's TV and Film broadcast authority's check. It's almost impossible to get a generic ROM for this product.
If this is not the right place for this, I apologize and any tips on where to ask would be appreciated. This is a Changhong TV bought from China, model 50C1U. I can read some Chinese but can’t seem to get this to change to English. I Waldo want to try and see if there is a way to change the software to an android version that’s better.
Try using google translate app it can translate live image language, it could help
Unlikely. This isn't an official AndroidTV device.
Would be able to help if you could post the model ID and the make and current OS version on the device.
Try asking the manufacturer... good luck.
Your TV is speaking in the language of the trees.
Try using Google translate camera to navigate it
Based on the general dismal performance of Chinese tv/box makers, I wouldn't hold out much hope that any alternate firmware is available.
Have a look at this step-by-step for a Xiaomi 5.1 device and see if you can glean any meaningful info that may help you to, at least, get English menus on your set.
