I have a TCL 65C2US television, which runs Android TV. I have had the TV for about a year now.
The version of Android TV on the television has just updated to Android 8 Oreo in the last couple of days, and since this occurred, the TV does not allow me to navigate to, access or read files from plugged in USB drives. It either (1) doesn’t detect the USB drive, (2) detects the drive but says the drive is empty, or (3) says the drive is “corrupt”. I have tried several different USB drives (all of which work 100% fine with my other devices) in both the USB ports on the 65C2US, and keep getting one of the previously listed problems.
Before the update, I was able to access and open files (mostly videos, which I played through an app from the Google Play Store) from my USB drives without issue. I have tried to access the USB drives using several file explorer apps (again, from the Google Play Store), however with each and every app I get one of the problems listed above. In one of the file explorer apps, I get the message "This device does not appear to support Android's Storage Access Framework", I am not sure if this means the recent update has removed the ability to access or read from a USB drive?!?
Can anyone please shed any light on this?
Thanks guys.
Can you back up the USB then format it on Android TV after its plugged in? Are you prompted to do this?
