Sony Android TV WiFi Issue

by BrunoP06

Hi, i have a Sony Android TV model (kd55x7005d Brazil) and after the software update V6.6510 (released in may 28) the TV doesn't connect to my WiFi network but works on mobile hotspots (such as personal access on iPhone). Any suggestions for resolving this issue?

Thankful!

Try to reset your router. This usually requires some kind of pin in the physical reset button for 30 seconds. check the manual for how to do it.

Also, do the same for the TV(factory reset).

You could try forgetting the wifi connections (should get the option in the Android menu) and re-connecting. Your router may support "smart steering" where you can assign the mac address of a device to connect to either the 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz channels. This may not fully solve your issue but it'll help you troubleshoot some.

Assuming it's connecting via 2.4GHz, go on your router settings and check what channel the wireless is set to. The US uses channel 1 to 11, while the rest of the world uses 1 to 13. Sony may have got lazy and accidentally set the channels to the US restrictions.

Thanks for the answers guys. The problem was in the software released by Sony, more precisely in the WPA protocol. They released another update that resolved the WiFi issue.
