How can I watch live TV on fire stick or Mi box?

by Mcdafish

So I was planning on buying either the fire or mi box, but my problem comes down to how can I still use live TV? I have a satellite dish on my roof and I think it uses DVB S2 and I'd love to actually be able to use it as well. Because where I live, most channels are not available online and I can only access them through that.

So is there anyway to do that without having to buy wetek air or play 2? they have this exact feature, but they're expensive.

Thank you all in advance!

You could get a Shield TV with a HDHomeRun box added on but that's a lot of money to avoid switching your TV's inputs back and forth.

Sling?

The cheapest way I think is with a raspi and a USB DVB S2 tuner. Install OpenElec on it, and configure the included tvheadend. You can then tune on the mibox using either Kodi, Dreamplayer or Tvheadend Live Channel

Now you don't need an antenna to watch live broadcasting at all. You just need to have a network in your home and install IPTV service on your device to watch it.

When it comes to selecting an IPTV Service, a little bit of research may be required. Here are the things to look for before purchasing an IPTV Provider:

Channels content

EPG Availability

Subscription prices

VPN Compatibility

Customer Support

Premium Sports Options

I used iView HD to watch the Champions League a few days ago. It was a great service to watch the Champions League.

Firetv has ota support I believe. You could look into it more. I just saw it while using my stick recently but since I don’t use ota I didn’t give it attention other than oh that’s cool.

AndroidTV-compatible USB TV tuner and Live Channels?

edit: Oops, that will only work for broadcast TV, I doubt it will work for satellite without an external box. Sorry!

How are you watching live TV right now?

If you currently watch it on your TV, you can just plus either device in the TV as well and keep watching live TV the way you are now.

It's probably the simplest solution. You would have to switch the TV input, but I personally don't think it's much worse than switching apps.

Avoid Android based - everything - completely if you want high quality, reliable deinterlacing for TV viewing.

The following thread sums up the problems pretty well with interlaced TV viewing on Android devices:

Cheapest reliable option is buy a MECOOL KI or KII Pro, and it must contain a S905D chipset with an inbuilt DVB-S2 tuner.

The WeTek’s have the same S905D chipset.

You then run this CoreELEC OS on it from a Class10 U1 microSDHC card:

The Linux based OS is the key here, and CE developer support for the TV tuner in the MECOOL’s.
