Remove Sponsor channel from Android TV

by Moose_Drool_22

Just bought a new Sony TV with Android TV installed on it. Is it possible to remove the sponsored channel from Android TV? Would anyone know how to access the software and remove it myself?

You can't. It's a Google feature

Did you uninstall updates from Android TV Core Services? That should allow you to move and remove the sponsored and promoted channels.

Isn't this something from Sony? I don't have this on my shield. But I know my LG TV has some sponsered content that I can't get rid of, which makes me think all TV makers are heading this way..

Return the TV. Vote with your wallet

That's irritating. I just bought a Bravia but haven't fired it up yet (waiting for internet to be installed). I wonder how effective that tact is? I know I won't watch a channel that's in my face like that. Too bad some kind of ad blocker, like uBlock Origin, won't work.

Welcome to Google and Sony - now monetising your TV with advertising.

It's only going to get worse IMHO for Android TV unless as mentioned already, people vote with their wallets.
