Im already on the fence stadia. If they block current shield users from using it unless we upgrade, it's gonna be a hard no from me.

If the old one doesn't get stadia support, Xda will crack open the new one and deliver us some apk
Of course there's a new Shield. I finally gave in and bought one a month ago, after all these years, after missing out on a 50% off coupon that came with my last PC graphics card... Right after I give in and buy one at full price a new one comes out.
Literally the current shield offering is overkill for stadia, The only reason the new shield would support it at launch would be to drive sales, nothing more.
Doesnt mean everyones current shield wont get official support later down the road, but im sure some keen people will get it working with some tweaks and sideloading magic.

It'll just be about the hardware upgrade. More ram, new processor, more storage options, same price.
Stadia is crap anyway. You pay subscription + full price for every game to play the from a cloud that requires really fast internet.
Why wouldn't us current owners get that feature? The thing has the processor for it.
