Nothing new. I've had the ability to to control it with Alexa for months on my Sony x900e. But it rarely works. "Alexa, turn on tv!" "I'm sorry, but device is not responding" About 1 out of 10 times it will actually turn the tv on.

Does anyone know how this works with the pre existing sony Alexa app that allowed you to control basic functions like volume and power? Should that be uninstalled first? Will you still be able to control things with this different app?

You have to install the Alexa app on your Sony Android TV. The article was a bit unclear about that.

The app is apparently incompatible with my Sony AF9. I wonder which TVs it is actually compatible with if not the (prev year’s) flagship?

Seems like you have the Oreo update 😕 waiting for it since Jan. Sony seems to be uninterested in Asia Pacific.

Installed this a few days ago on XBR900F and it does show my Ring camera and allows me to turn TV on/off...along with a few other things. The camera and on/off worked flawlessly, however I am finding that my TV spontaneously turns itself on overnight or while we're away now :(
