What are the most powerful android tv devices?

by Muted_Material

Looking into getting something really nice that won't have much lag and be able to play 4k off kodi // plex effortlessly and have a lot of performance. The shield is a no brainer, the fire stick 4k ? Mi box s, jetstream , mecool km3 or km9? Any particular processors to look for ? Something with RK3399 or S922X I heard is nice but not sure if it runs that if it's automatically a good device or not or what your guys' thoughts are on the best devices out there

If you can't afford a Shield then get the Mi Box S.

They are both Google certified and get updated unlike the cheap Chinese junk boxes.

Nvidia Shield.

nvidia shield tv, hands down. I mean the thing can play PC titles on it, I don't think anything else in the android tv market can say it has that processing power.

I would never (again) buy an Android TV. I have a 2016 Sony Android TV, and guess what? I hooked it up to an Nvidia Shield. Honestly - just get the Shield - if it get's outdated in a year, just replace it for peanuts

Shield TV is the best streaming box ever made.

If you need google-certified Chromecast and 4k prime and 4k netflix, you don't have much choice - Nvidia shield, however you will suffer with HDR youtube. Mibox doesn't have 4k prime, and the latest Sony's are very expensive.

If you don't need Chromecast or Android or gaming, there's the Apple TV or Firestick.

Or you could wait for the new shield or the JBL to come out.

If its just 4k Kodi/coreelec, you can go for any box with a good chipset and Gigabit ethernet

If it's DIY - Kodi 4K HDR only then the S922X, and you run the dedicated and optimised CoreELEC Kodi on it:

The Shield is the most powerful Android TV hardware out in the market, followed by the new pretty powerful Mediatek chipset in the new 2019 model Sony 4K HDR TV's.

High bitrate 4K HDR home network streaming (ie Bluray Rips) needs Gigabit Ethernet or very good AC WiFi on all equiptment. Even then GigaE is a lot more reliable.
