Turning broken screen S8+ into android tv?

by j0p4

I was wondering if it is possible to flash a android TV rom into a Samsung Galaxy S8+ .

Anyone has tried this before?

I've been used the phone hook up through usb-c/hdmi into the TV but some apps like Plex are optimized to touch screen, making the experience with the keyboard awful.

A ROM like that doesn't exist, sorry.

You can do something with the Samsung Dex.

A friend of mine had that thing 1 year ago. As a traveler worker, it's perfect for him (no laptop to carry in hotels room, he just plug to the TV already in the room)

With a wireless keyboard + mouse ( like this one ), it work magicly.

So, I guess with a static usage at home, it can work perfectly with the Plex Android App or Netflix, XBMC etc...

Hope it can help you.

You could get a USB-C hub, get a HDMI to USB-C, a mouse and keyboard for the phone, and use it like that. But as for a Android TV ROM? I doubt that exists

You can run android on it but not android tv. Install a TV launcher and get a air mouse remote

For Plex in particular, it has an option in the Android app for you to decide which layout you would like to use, mobile or TV
