Really wanting to get an Android TV box and I think the right one for me is the Mi Box S but I havn’t seen anywhere talking about it getting Pie. Does anyone here know if it does or if it will very soon? Otherwise I’m just gonna go with the Nvidia Shield TV cause I know for a fact it does have Pie and Q is already almost out

The MiBox is scheduled for Pie update, but no timeline has been given
Get a Shield. I have a Mi Box S and it's okay, but the Shield has better support and is more powerful. Also, it's the only box with official support for Prime Video, though a search for the APK will get it onto the Mi Box

Not so sure you can recite a practical reason for wanting anything beyond Oreo on MiBox S, especially considering Xiaomi's execrable history with version upgrades.
My best advice..... LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE!!!!
By my calculation it has been over 14 months since the abortive Oreo 8 upgrade for original MiBox.
We all remember what a debacle that was. It took a near mutiny by users of a Xiaomi specific forum to encourage the engineering staff to get it to the level of performance it enjoys at this date.

Mi box pie beta is released
The Shield is Not currently running Android Pie, it is still running Oreo 8.0
The only devices I know currently running Android TV Pie 9.0 are the MECOOL KM3/KM9
