Mi Box S and 4K Streaming Question

by Kenzibitt

So I have my Mi Box S hooked to my 1080p at 60 TV but when I watch YouTube videos on it I see it streams in 4K. Is that possible and is it really streaming 4K on a non 4K TV?

On the UI, I do see apps like Google Play Movies and CNNGo showing snippets of videos (live channels) but mine doesn't do that...is there a setting for it? It works with Redbull TV and a few though.

When I turn off Mi Box with the remote I see this red light from the audio port that never goes off, is it really off?? But When I leave it on and goes inactive for some time and later shuts off by itself after an hour I see no red light...are the different types of power offs for this device??

Unlike my Chromecast and Google Home speaker, Google assistant on Android TV can not play my movies from Google Play. It tries to play and quits after showing a little info about the Movie.... Sometimes it even tells me it can't find the requested movie in my GPlay movies app. On the other hand when I ask my Google Home speaker it plays it straight away on the TV.

Thanks and hope I get some answers, I'm new to the Box and Android TV so forgive my ignorance.

Yes it's possible and totally fine. It's the Auto resolution settings the YouTube for ATV has.

That depends on where you live. Not all apps that comes with the box will work everywhere. Try opening the app you want to show the snippets on the main UI once. If not happens you can find the App settings or the UI settings.

I think you mean the red light coming from the back. If so it's the SPDIF port that also sends digital audio like a toslink port.

Google Assistant on this box is awful. Just don't care too much.
