Which movie app do you use on your tv?

by denzo81

I use Nova player and have most of my movies on an external drive and it is great and the option to download subtitles on the spot is fantastic. However there is a few movies that doesn’t show up in the movies categories and I have to go to external driver and find them if I want to watch them.
I’d like to look around for a player that is perfect, thanks.

All you have to do is rename the filenames properly so it can be searched on the TMDB. Your problem is easily fixed. There's no reason to switch to another player.

Just go to the files that don't get scraped and rename them. If you have The Matrix, make sure the filename is "The.Matrix.1999.mkv". As long as you have the exact title and year in the beginning of the filename, you are fine. Get the exact title from TMDB or IMDB. Once you do that, go back to them on Nova, press "get info" and they will be scraped properly and then be categorized the way you want.

I've been using Kodi for the longest and recently switched to Nova for the simple UI. I connect to my network and have been playing everything so far. I really like how Nova downloads subtitles without the need to install an addon)(which requires an opensubtitles login to work).

Really happy with Nova, Kodi is now just a backup

Kodi, also great for TV shows.

Archos video player is a simple one but kodi is the main one. Both will scrape for you and archos has a section that shows unscrapped ones you can manually assign or just watch there. Kodi you get an add on called missing movies or something and it will show you what is not scrapped, then you rename it on the hard drive and try and rescrape
