Using Kodi for "WAF" on mibox. can't get it to see my unraid shares - first atv box with this issue

by usafle

Trying to use Kodi as a front-end for the wife since she is familiar with it since all my other ATV boxes in the house use it as the front end for everything. For some reason, on this particular device, I try to add my media / click on NFS share nothing comes up.

I've followed the same procedure on my Shield, Vero4K, Cheap Chinese knock-off ATV boxes, no issue, my UnRaid Shares show up.

I installed that X-Plorer file manager app that a few of you have mentioned on here. I am able to browse my LAN and see my UnRaid shares in that app without issue. So, maybe it's NOT the box but some new setting in Kodi I'm overlooking?

Show hidden files and folders within kodi maybe?

If I recall I just had to type my path in somewhere, it never came up looking for it. I had to just type it in and it worked.

NFS or SMB? X-Plore has no support for NFS, iirc..

Might be an SMB1 issue. Did you try directly typing in the IP address?

Edit: or just enable SMB.

I suggest setting up Emby in Unraid and then using the Emby for Kodi addon to turn Kodi into a frontend for Emby.

You dont need to mess around with libraries in Kodi and the Emby plugin will automatically create smart playlists for all your content even things in separate libraries.

Doing this is way easier and stress free than setting up Kodi directly and takes less time since the database and all the artwork are handled by Emby.
