The new update of Prime Video (4.12.12-googleplay-armv7a) sideloaded to my TV can finally maintain 1080p quality. Though my TV is 4k, it doesn't go up to UHD. Hopefully soon.

Prime Video, for me, was always bad quality. Super compressed and blocky looking video, it’s not even 720p, it’s like an SD video stretched for a larger resolution. I’ll have to check it out again after this update.
That's odd, I'm on a 2016 Sony Bravia and in the UK the app is preinstalled. It used to be awful but recent updates have made it really nice to use. It plays 4k perfectly.
