AndroidTV Device Comparison Table

by FlickFreak

Yesterday there was a post asking for a comparison chart showing the fastest AndroidTV devices so I thought I'd make one but list all of the most common devices instead of just the fastest ones. I only put Google Certified devices on the chart and I didn't bother with TV provider devices or TV's, just standalone devices that are available through regular retail channels (other than the 2 ADT devices).

It tried my best to make sure the info in the table was accurate but if anyone sees a mistake I'll be happy to correct it.

I bought a KM9, no netflix...so I never used it.

Google should have required that all (at least US devices) have a Coaxial input to utilize the live channels function.

Nice work mate. Excellent Summary !

I will add any AMLogic device running Oreo v8.1 or greater will Not have Kodi HD audio support. You have to get a Nvidia Shield or 2016 Mi Box that runs Oreo v8.0 if you want that.

The newer ARM Mali-G31 GPU's in the new AMLogic S905 X2/Y2 chipset devices will make for a noticeably snappier graphically rich - Android TV setup, vs the comparatively old ARM Mali-450 GPU in the S905X, S905D or T962E.

Nothing surpasses the powerful fast Maxwell GPU** in the Nvidia Shield !

**Just don't get caught out with it's lack of 4K HDR YouTube or 4K HDR Play Movies, hardware video decoding support. (ie VP9 profile2)

Perhaps we should add a column for Price and maybe if custom firmware/root is available?

I just got the AirTVMini to play around with, and I use YT-TV not Sling, so it's killing me that I can't get it to not boot directly into Sling currently.

If you want a bit more info, there is also my Google Sheet that includes Operators, Televisions, some Android AOSP devices, SoC per device, etc

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kdnHLt673EjoAJisOal2uIpcmVS2Defbgk1ntWRLY3E/

Also not sure if the Anker Nebula Capsule II belongs in your list :P.

T962E for the Link Bar, not S962E.

T is for TV type devices and S for STB.

BasicAlgae5

Great job.

Should be pinned.

Can you please add the Vodafone TV box? It's a fantastic unit for the price $72AUD

hkrob

Nice start.

I would add: DTS-HD (and other HD Audio) passthrough status, Auto-Refresh Switching, # of USB 3 Sockets, HDMI CEC Control

foundfootagefan

Ok you definitely beat my post with this. Good work. Hope the mods make it a Wiki entry!

suku_patel_22

Superb list. Please add the below MI Tv's. Netflix doesn't work on any of them.

MI TV 4A Pro 32/43/49

https://www.mi.com/in/mi-led-tv-4a-pro-32/ : Amlogic Cortex A53 quad-core, 1GB+8GB

https://www.mi.com/in/mi-led-tv-4a-pro-43/ : Amlogic Cortex A53 quad-core, 1GB+8GB

https://www.mi.com/in/mi-led-smart-tv-4a-pro-49/ : Amlogic Cortex A53 quad-core, 2GB+8GB

Mi TV 4C Pro 32

brandscill92

Could a column be added for HDR and the variants it supports?

raptor75mlt

This should read "AndroidTV BOXes" not "AndroidTV DEVICes".

Otherwise include the TV's here like Sony, Philips, TCL, etc

ataccombat

So the snapdragon in the Razer forge TV is weak or what? Every review of it I've seen gives it low marks but I've always heard positive things about SD processors....

Andriusdude

Does anyone know if that USB AirTV tuner is compatible to other Android TV devices 😀?

BiggussDikkuss

Suggestion - Possible Res column rename.

Rename Res column and replace with YouTube 4K HDR, then the usual tick or crosses. This adds two bits of device info in one column.

All the AMLogic chipset devices are 4K HDR YouTube capable, the Nvidia Shield is not, 4K SDR only. And yes Shield buyers do unfortunately get caught out.

Maybe just official Android version would be nice. It would be pretty hard to do for the smaller brand units as theres not much information on them out there.

Also the Nexus Player stopped getting updates close to 2 years ago shortly after Oreo dropped and hasnt been for sale for even longer than that. Unless you find one on ebay they arent really available so in my opinion they shouldnt be on the list.

Nice list otherwise.

Kenzibitt

This is excellent 👌🏾

azbest_hu

Good to have this list.
Although I miss the column about chromecast functionality. That is a good indicator if the device has official certs instead of hacked and unsupported stuff on it.

whyyoudodis_101

Hi, which one would you recommend between Xiaomi Mi Box S and KM9 Pro and KM3? And why?

BiggussDikkuss

For European Android TV users there is an updated Jetstream 4K Ultra HD sold in the form of a Engel EN1015K, that is running Android TV Pie 9.0:

Bwuce

This list is exactly what i'm looking for, thank you!

BiggussDikkuss

The AMLogic S905X2 chipset, Gigabit LAN equipped - MINIX NEO T5 should be added to the list above:

http://minix.com.hk/products/neo-t5

That device cannot do HD or greater Netflix.

BiggussDikkuss

I agree with @ witness_this below.

Plus whomever maintains the following ATV list has it in the wrong PayTV section, because you can walk into a retail store or mail order, and you do not need to be a Vodafone customer to use such a device properly:

abeel_siddiqui

U should check a utuber named chigz tech reviews he has a wayy more detailed chart for boxes
