Shield tv all the way. It's support and community are unmatched by any other Android TV box.
Definitely shield . It's a no brainer. Shield + tvx1 and fps on sports channels is pretty awesome!
Shield. Their software support has been great. Pretty quick to update to the latest OS version and consistently provide updates. Even Google stopped updates for their own AndroidTV box.
I would pick Nvidia shield over any other box.
I have both for different purposes.
Shield will be a far far better Android TV box, with the whole suite of much easier to use Android TV Apps, proper certifications, Netflix approval and Chromecasting capabilities. It will be faster too due to its beast of a GPU. :)
MINIX U9 will be a better Kodi Leia device - if - you run the very well supported CoreELEC OS on it from a class 10 U1 microSDHC card, like Samsung EVO or Sandisk.

Kodi on the U9 also does HDR > SDR mapping. Shield does not.
It also supports VP9 profile 2 hardware decoding if you wanted to play around with YouTube HDR and the sideloaded SmartYoutube App.
MINIX A2 lite mini keyboard, air mouse remote shits all over the Nvidia Shield's stupid touch sensitive farcical remote. A2 lite is my favourite remote. Batteries last for 8 months +
I would not use the U9 for Android unless there are some very specific touchscreen/tablet Apps that could not be used properly on the Shield. Ones that needed an Air Mouse remote.
The U9 can also dual boot Android tablet OS / CoreELEC.
Pick either device depending on your needs.
The Shield. That's not even a question. The shield is the best box by a mile, and the minix isn't even the same operating system.
Mainly I plan to use it for IPTV and Kodi / Netflix No apps or games.
The Minix box is not an official Android TV box so you won't get a lot of help around here. It really depends on what you want to use it for. For a simple, real Android TV box you may want to consider the MiBox S.
