Force Phone App over AndroidTV version (shared APK)

by rajmeteor

Hello,

Does anybody know how to force launch a Phone App over the AndroidTV app ?

It's Mycanal, they share the same APK for both mobile/tablet and AndroidTV.

I'm on ATVexperience 2FF on s905w, with root access, the AndroidTV version of Mycanal does not work properly on it, but the phone version works well (at least on the original ROM).

Thanks for your help.

You have to edit the AndroidManifest.xml

Basically you have to replace the leanback launcher part with the one that belongs to the mobile activity. I have no idea how well this will work, or at all.

edit: The more i think about it, if you can create a shortcut to open the mobile activity that would be much easier.

I recommend the app called Sideload Channel. You can create custom channels on the home screen to organize your apps and they can include native and sideloaded apps.

Uninstall the Android TV version and disable auto updates in the play store, then sideload the mobile version. You will have to keep auto updtes disabled though, so make sure you routinely check available updates for your other apps.
