KM3 trumps Mi Box

by KyleGrizz

I had the MI Box and besides the Netflix being in HD the KM3 from Mecool is tons better.

A. Has a sideloaded app browser preinstalled

B. Has 4 GB of memory instead of the 2 MI Box has making streaming high quality content smoother and load times shorter when more than 1 app is running

C. Has 53 GB of storage to play around with instead of the 5 the Mi Box has.

D. It's got newer hardware

E. Km3 is preloaded with Android 9.0 while the Mi Box is only upgradeable to 8.0

F. It has 3 USB ports one of which is a USB C and the others a standard 2.0.

Sure the KM3 is not a shield but it is tons closer to it than the Mi Box and Jetstream. Some will view the lack of HD in Netflix a detriment but if you use Kodi you could get those same movies and shows in HD so it's not a concern. Another issue is the lack of updates as Mecool is relatively new and there is a question if they will update the system but since it is at 9.0 already it safe to say you can use this for a few years and everything will run and then upgrade once it slows.

Another negative is the cost which some will say you might as well get the shield which while true for those on a semi budget this km3 will be great for watching 4k movies and streaming Hulu.

That's not how any of that works, at all

No real netflix, no deal.

Mi box is recommended by Google. The only two real options is Shield TV and Mi Box. Netflix work with a work around. This is meaning copyright problems with other apps. Netflix 4K HDR from Mi box vs Netflix 480p with workaround 😅 What a deal! 3 USB ports! 😅

The S905X2 equipped KM3 is definately more powerful hardware vs the previous gen. S905X chipset in the Mi Boxes and Jetstream.

Android TV, being a graphics rich OS needs a powerful GPU, the ARM Mali-G31 in the S905X2 is excellent for the price paid.

Yes the KM3 is not, Netflix approved. But what would be interesting is to see is if the Kodi Netflix Addon works, you would get 1080p or 4K Netflix streaming then:

That Addon certainly works on other Android devices that have legit Widevine L1 keys baked into device Firmware.
