Ethernet on mi box s

by noxuotan

I'm using a ugreen gigabit ethernet adapter with my mi box but I'm getting a maximum of 200 mbps down speed while I have gigabit at home. I've tested the cable and adapter with my laptop and am able to reach 800-900+. So my question is does the mi box have gigabit capability? If so what can I do to get more out of it? PS: what's the top you can get on wifi?

my guess is the limit is on the USB port, right?

USB 2.0 port. You'll only get around 200-250 meg on it with a gigabit ethernet USB dongle.

Even at 100 meg you can still play anything on netflix, prime, vudu, youtube, any streaming cable service also.

The only time it might be an issue is when you're playing uncompressed 4k which not many people do. But if you like playing uncompressed 4k then you should really get a shield as you'll have fewer issues. Mi Box has problems playing 4k 60 fps HDR stuff.

Device is performing exactly as designed, your expectations are exaggerated.

Why would you need more than 200 mbps?

Certainly nothing practical, just bragging rights?
