Mi Box can connect to 5Ghz but not 2,4Ghz

by RookieRaceline

i hope you guys can help me. My new Mi Box S seems to be really cool, but i just can't get it to connect to my 2,4Ghz network.

It works fine on 5Ghz, and most features work, but i need it to be on the 2,4Ghz network, to be able to cast and work with my other google home units.

Is this a known issue or is there a quick fix for this?

Unless there's some sort of isolation going on both the 5GHz and 2.4GHz should be on the same network, and devices on both should be able to see each other. I suggest having a look at the router settings and see if there's something that could change this.

If that doesn't work, try changing the channel the 2.4GHz is on, it might be on an incompatible channel. 1 to 13 are the usual international channels but some countries will be different.

My 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz are on the same network, they shouldn't have any problem communicating.

Have you checked to see if there's a conflict with another 2.4 GHz network close by?

There are plenty of apps that will scan your Wi-Fi network and show you which channels have the most interference. I personally use an app called WiFi Analyzer, which can be found for free on the F-Droid repository.

2.4Ghz has more range than 5Ghz, so it appears likely that it's interference. Changing the 2.4Ghz channel the wireless router is broadcasting on will probably fix your issue.

Is the router steering units to the 5Ghz channel?

Got similar case here, 2.4Ghz is dropping connection and disconnects every few minutes.
