Is Android TV better then Android AOSP?

by k585383

I bought a TV box from local, and using Android AOSP felt stupid.

Like the apps downloaded from play-store wasn't designed with a TV interface; I think all the Android TV apps I sideloaded won't run, I'll have to use the remote like a mouse...ect

would an official, google certified Android TV box make a difference? Can I use the voice remote everywhere or just in the main interface? Can you sideload and run non-Android TV apps?

Like night and day different.

A touchscreen operating system like Android doesn't work too well for a living room TV. That's why Google created the Android TV operating system.

And yes you can sideload apps. But remember there's no touchscreen so unless the devs designed this app to operate via a handheld remote then you'll probably have to plug in a mouse or keyboard to use the app.

Basically Android AOSP = touchscreen / tablet mobile interface = air mouse needed = which is a PITA for Apps usage on a TV screen when sitting in an Armchair.

Android TV OS = Apps designed for usage on a TV screen, controlled using a simple D-Pad (voice) remote

Install Aida64 App and see if you have an AMLogic chipset.

You might then be able to find an Android TV OS ROM image over on the Freaktab Website:
