Set up a Pi-Hole .

I use Stopad.io to block ads, it uses VPN though, should also work with Ethernet connection.

Try posting about it on r/Blokada with more details. Somebody might be able to help you. Aside from that, you could set your DNS to AdGuard's or if you are technically-savvy, set up a Pi-Hole. Both these latter two options block ads at the DNS level.

Some of my apps stop functioning when I block them with my VPN ad block (Blokada). They actually require the pass-thru data from the ad in order to fire off the stream I want to view or the game I want to play.

Get a router that is well supported by OpenWrt and run ad block. Two best are probably the WRT32X (what I have) or R7800. Or setup a Pi-hole as others said.

Everyone should be cautious when messing with a VPN based apps for the purpose of blocking ads. If it is a VPN based app than all traffic is being ran through that application which means all information can be captured by them. Really shady and would never use these types of apps that many offer pirated versions of for free. Completely shady. My advice would be to use modded apps that remove the ads because I'm pretty sure I know the type of ads and applications you are talking about. Many of those apps have modded ad free versions if you know where to look. But be careful and scan them first with something like virustotal. Be careful and check permissions under the details section of virustotals scan. That one site is amazing for getting quick information about the apks I use. If you don't know much about APK permissions observe the files you scan with virustotal and Google anything you don't know. You'd be amazed how intrusive the permissions are in those apps that you've been using. Probably looking at your web history and bookmarks and selling it to advertisers, you are probably giving it access to your Wi-Fi settings and other nasty things that people should be careful of.

using a VPN based ad blocker is a horrible idea in my opinion unless it is a legitimate service that is being paid for and most people using these apps are not. Most of these are pirated versions people find from sources like filelinked.if ads are really that much of an issue that this post is required in the first place then perhaps you should revise the type of applications you choose and find better ad free options. Many are out there.

block ads? where? In which apps? Because highly likely that you wont be able to block them by using VPN based apps.
