How to control volume directly with the remote on Philips TVs?

by TwofacedDisc

I got myself a PUS7303 last year and just updated it to Oreo.

I use external speakers (connected via jack) and before the update I could control its volume simply with the remote.

After the update I can only control the volume on the speakers, even if I use an optical cable.

Downgrading is not an option unfortunately, the previous version was so buggy for me that it was almost unusable (TV randomly not turning on etc).

Please help me!

You have to go into the settings and change the headphone volume.

I am trying to do the same thing. I still haven't found a solution.

I'm in the same boat now. I would suggest spamming the Philips support pages with requests for adding this feature back.

I can't explain why you were able to do it before the update but controlling the volume of PCM, Dolby and DTS bitstreams with the TV's remote control while using the internal speakers is possible but trying to control the volume of Dolby and DTS bitstreams when using external speakers with optical connections has never been posible (unless you were using HDMI-CEC), you must use your AVR's remote control instead, only PCM bitstreams is possible with your TV's remote though.
