I'm also wondering about that. There was a discovered code-name for a new controller, "stormcaster" .

The box says game controller is required for certain games. So not sure if they plan to release or if we are supposed to get last years model.

At any rate they milked us on the price this go around at $199 with no controller.

Don't know if it means anything, but the shop on Nvidia's site only shows the controller as available and all 2017 consoles as out of stock. I'm guessing they are keeping the current controller unchanged.

The fact that the new 2019 Shield doesn't have a controller bundled in any version makes me wonder where nvidia is going. Are they just throwing their weight behind Stadia and will just recommend the Stadia controller? Whither Geforce Now?

These aren't the gaming editions, those will be more $$$, if there is a new controller.

I don't see what they could change or add to the 2017 controller. I'm sure they could continue to sell it as-is and be just fine. They could easily do a faux bundle this time around, where the "gaming edition" is just the Pro with a 2017 controller in a separate box, like how they did the 2015 bundles that included the 2015 remote in a separate box.

At this moment, 2017 model with controller at lower rate will be better deal for gaming. They will try to clear 2017 stock. Bad strategy, controller was a big USB for shield tv. What is meaning of 2019 pro edition when it doesn't have neither controller or bigger storage.

I love the old controller. But this is a bit steep for a very minimal upgrade and a new remote that looks cheap and is totally hideous. I've had no issues out of my Shields. They work great. But this is a piss poor upgrade. If this is it, they can keep it. The price just isn't on par with other devices. I know it makes some people feel like they have a big dick to say they own a Shield. I'm not one of those people. I don't mind spending money on great tech. But this is an embarrassing upgrade after so many years.
