Is Nvidia Shield the only Android TV device with manual audio sync option?

by RistaRistic

I used to own 2017 Shield and sold it because it was overkill for my needs. I just need Android TV with Netflix and Youtube but I miss the possibility to adjust audio video sync manually. I'm using wireless headphones which introduce some lag and also the TV itself seems to have some messed up audio compensation built in so I end up with audio that is BEHIND video by about 150ms. Watchable but noticeable.

Can any of the cheaper options do it? I have Fire Stick 4K now and there are no sync options. Is the option still there on the new Shield?

If you play through something like Kodi you can adjust sync. Not sure if Plex does it.

What kind of headphones are you using? I've been using the Sennheiser RF RS120 headphones for many many years and I don't get any lag at all. I use them with my Android TV box (Jetstream), Fire TV 2nd Gen, Satellite box and even with my Chromecast. I just connect them to my TV and they've been flawless for years and years.

They have been used so much that the earpads don't even have any cushion left anymore at this point, but that is replaceable and the headphones themselves are still going strong.

So, if you don't mind the stereo audio and don't care about the fact that these are RF headphones, then maybe something like that is a better option for you, instead of a brand new box just to avoid lag? That way you won't have that problem with any other box in the future.

You can buy a cheap aptx Bluetooth converter which will have no noticeable lag, that's what a friend of mine did. The Android system introduces a lot of lag.

No options on my Jetstream 4K box. What's your TV? I think my Vizio has options for this. Anyway sounds like Shield isn't over powered for you afterall!

The new shield 2019 has Bluetooth 5. Do your headphones? If so, maybe that'll reduce the lag. All shields also work with a controller that allows you to plug in the headset - so another option. I get both pull you back into the eco system but maybe it's worth it now.

Some Roku (maybe others) allow you to plug into their controllers too.

I always thought that was app controlled, not device controlled
