When I put apps on my Android TV, it asks for me to use the Keyboard on my mobile device. Sure, I use the Android TV remote control app, same icon, it says it connects, etc... But when i try type, nothing ever works! I can't access my accounts or anything, what am I doing wrong?
Having the same problem here, ever since the last major update. It’s annoying as heck and I can’t seem to find a fix either.
Random thought.. does plugging in a USB keyboard work? I know I've used Bluetooth keyboards and mice as well on my phone for whatever reason. Still an annoying bug tho.
Some have this issues while others don't, which suggests it might be related to something in common installed on the devices having this issue. Ad blockers are notorious for blocking more than ads, so if you use one you might want to try disabling it. ES File explorer has also been known to cause odd random issues, as have some VPNs. You might also have some luck if you locate the google keyboard app in system apps, delete the app data, and restart the device.
So I actually found a kind of solution... I went into the settings on my TV and disabled the Android TV remote app, and it apparently forced the TV to bring up its own keyboard.
