Mi Box S Dead?

Hey guys. I updated my Mi box S to Android 9 by going into recovery and downloading from a external drive. When the update finished, it indicated in the top left that I was on 9, but when I try to "reboot system now," it pops up with the Mi logo and boots you back into recovery after about 25 seconds. I've tried so many things like going back to 8.1(which failed) and many other things on the internet, but nothing works. I really love this box and would hate to see it go. Any ideas?

Looks like you didn't wipe data before applying the update, follow the instructions provided here .

You don't specify if you did the "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache" steps? I would suggest you go into recovery, do the above two steps, then update from usb. When I updated, the first update seemed to be very quick and rebooting just took it back to recovery. If I'm not mistaken, there was some error about a command that failed. So I just repeated everything:

  1. Wipe data/factory reset
  2. Wipe cache
  3. Apply update
  4. When returned to the menu, select reboot now Good luck
