Sony Owners: An update was released ~10 days ago! (V6.6545)

by Kwooksplash

Just a short reminder to those who did not realize it. Sony released an update on 11/27 for a wide range of TVs. (No, this is not the Pie update)

This brings us up to security patch level of September 2019. Better than nothing, I guess...

It is not being delivered via OTA so far, so just grab it of the Sony website and put it on a USB stick! I just installed it on my KD-XF8305 and so far there are no issues.

Any improvements to anything? The description seems to be the same as the update before

It's the third Android-8-Update, with much Bugfixes! I have spoken to the Sony-Support, and They have say that it can take a very long time until a OTA-Update reaches Everyone, and have recommend to install the Newest Update (6.6545) because it's the third version of the Android-8-Update with much issues fixed! I have installed it over USB, without a factory reset before, and it works very well! - The Menu is faster and has a other new design, a few Apps like Netflix getting a update what is only available with Android-8 with new Design, and the most important thing - No issues so far!

Nothing on my X8000D

Sony Asia still suck at v6.6520 with 1 May 2019 security patch. 🤷🏻‍♂️

There is a reason why it is not being delivered OTA, it was pulled by Sony.

Which means they found some issues that need to be fixed before they release it to everyone.

I would not go and do any updates right now until you see the new version listed back up on the Sony Website

My 2011 Sony TV has some smart APP capabilities but since I use Kodi on a Shield TV I never connect it to the Internet and everything is working perfectly fine like that.
