Prime Video with Google Nexus Player

by ravi_chopra

Has anyone figured out how to get these to work together or is it a lost cause? Thanks in advance.

Edit: I know the apk doesn't work. Trying to cast. Really an indictment of Amazon that HBO, Netflix, Hoopla, BeachBody - basically everyone with a streaming service has made it work np, but Amazon, with all its resources, can't (won't).

I've tried side loading the apk many different times and it hasn't worked. Chromecasting is also not working, so yeah kinda sucks :(

Try updating the app, it was removed intentionally and recently re added.

Otherwise you can use Google home to cast your whole phone to the TV.

Not sure if it will work on the Nexus Player, but the only APK I could get to work in HD on my Mi Box S was Amazon Prime 4.7.9 for Xiaomi.apk. The other APK versions I tried wouldn't do HD, only SD. Might be worth a try.

Disclaimer: I don't have prime, but was seeing HD on my purchases or movies and TV.

Same here, no app or casting for the NP it's bullshit

Wait, they have singled out the Nexus Player specifically as a cast receiver? Or is this because of some missing DRM code never released for x86? The whole situation is just outrageous.

Oh yeah, there’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time.

Nice to see some still running, I guess. Four years ago (when it still worked) I could never get the side load to play anything. I could log in and browse but would spin a waiting wheel waiting.

Love my NP. It's still used daily by my family. I'm only considering replacing it as we have the prime video sub but can't play it via apk or even cast it.

When ATT did the free month of DirecTVNow last March, I finally caved and bought a (refurbished) Fire TV (hoping they do something similar this year, but I'm not sure what the service is even called) Now I have both attached (via an external HDMI switcher) and switch back and forth - FandangoNow, Google Play Movies, some of my Play Store games on Nexus Player, and Prime on the Fire TV. Hulu, Netflix work on both. It's dumb that they can't work it out, but then again I still have to use my Sony Blu-Ray player to watch VUDU (seriously a pain!), and Amazon EOL'd prime on the Blu-Ray player, so even that can't be the single access point. IMO if you watch slickdeals and pick up a Roku or Fire Stick on sale, much better than wasting time trying to sideload unsupported apps.

The Prime Video version 5.2.13 armv7a (I think this is the Google Play Version), works now on Nexus Player.

I installed today and it is working.
