Display mode recommendations

by YuvalTheVal

Hey everyone! I recently bought a Mi box S for my Samsung Q60R (cheapest, 2019 version of Qled). I will mostly use it for IPTV that doesn't support 4k so there's no need for me to set the display to 4k. However, when trying to set it to 1080p@60hz there seems to be some problems - the image sometimes kinda lags a little and there's a bit of a weird soap opera effect. It's also weird because in my television settings I switched off auto motion plus completely. Any advice on what display mode I should use?

I would set it to 4K. Even if the content is not 4K, it will not make a difference as if you had the box at 1080p60, the image quality will be the same. With it at 4K, you can at least enjoy 4K content without switching back the resolution.

I too use it at 1920x1080@60Hz and have experienced a little frame lag when picking through menus, but not when watching on Netflix or YouTube. Haven't seen that soap opera effect you're talking about though.

In my experience on my Sony 4k TV, the really bad soap opera effect came from the motion smoothing tech in the TV itself, turning all 24p and 60p content into 120i. It's so distracting. Turning it off once did not turn it off for all inputs. I had to go to every input, play some content, and turn that infernal smoothing off.

So, that said, are you sure it's the Mi Box and not your TV?

4k 60p here . I have a Samsung series 7 and all works smoothly . I desactive all the motions options from the TV. I recommend to you search for best settings to configure your TV model, there is a lot of difference if you make custom color and image adjustment

A starting point. White balance can you skip. No TV is the same. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/q60-q60r-qled/settings
