Disney & Netflix Dolby 5.1 not working mi box s

Hey everyone!

Been having problems with my mi box S since the android 9.0 update.

First problem, all videos would play for about 1.5 minutes the stop. Tried everything, finally had to reset it, fixed that problem (still a minor 30 reset everytime a Bluetooth devices disconnects , but only on Disney +)

But the new main problem is Dolby 5.1 from Netflix or Disney. Both, no matter what I do only does stereo. Plex does Dolby 5.1 fine, so it's not my setting. I think it's the Netflix and Disney apps not playing well with the mi box s and the new 9.0 update.

Can anyone else with a mi box S , and android 9.0, confirm if Netflix or Disney is doing Dolby 5.1?

My setup mi box S --> Vizio TV --> (optical input) Vizio sound bar

Edit:. Netflix Solution, set it to spdif or auto and restart the box and hopefully it will fix it if you have the same problem. Thanks to R6ckstar for the tip. Disney+ still only does stereo with this trick.

Make sure in the audio settings of the mibox it is set to spdif

I had something similar happen while watching Netflix, sound bar sounded awful, I have no idea what RF or spdif is but ill try searching for these settings tomorrow....

Same issue here: No 5.1 with Disney+
Netflix, Prime and HBO work fine on 5.1 (DD+) but Disney+ only does 2.0
Is this problem related to Disney+ app or related to Xiaomi/Disney license issues?

After update chromecast also not working
