I currently have a Chromecast Ultra and use it to stream Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, YouTube, Twitch, Videostream (for local files) and mirror tabs for anything else from my computer (though there's a quality drop for that), which is also in my bedroom.
Most of the content I watch is in 1080p and I've never been bothered by that (so yes, the Ultra is overkill, which is why I want to make sure if a stream box fits my needs).
Since my new TV is a 2019 model, the built-in apps shouldn't be too sluggish just yet. Further, the only Chromecast problem I have is mirroring tabs, and I have a PS4 (not Pro) that I could hypothetically use for some streaming. I could also connect my tablet to my TV to avoid having to screen mirror as well.
I've looked at spec sheets and features lists for a couple of stream boxes and nothing's really caught my attention, but maybe that's because I've never used one. Maybe a stream box would be better in a few years when my TV stops getting updates? Thanks in advance.
Xiaomi Mi box is a good device for around $60 and just got updated to pie
