I'd say that over the network is the most convenient way and imo is "the best way". I'm sure that it won't be everyone's cup of tea though.
Awesome and once I do that I read that non google play store apps don’t show up in the normal list of apps is that true or once I install an apk it will automatically show up?
I use X-Plore from the store and then dump the APK's into my Google drive and load them from there using X-Plore. I don't do this on a TV, but it should work no problem.
I use downloader app. If they don't have the app I'm looking for I then use ES file explorer
