TCL DP660 with Oreo will not stay in standby

by gabbsmo

I have had this TV for about a year now. I like the idea of having access to the Play Store (VLC, Steam Link etc.) it is a little rough around the edges.

The biggest problem is the long cold starts. Is this a problem with AndroidTV or Smart TVs in general?

As a workaround I have enabled "Fast start". Problem is that if I wake it after sleeping for 12-24 hours it often boots up from the beginning anyway. Is this a fixable problem? Is it specific to TCL or this a general problem with AndroidTV?

TCL issue there are threads everywhere here in Australia about it. They keep issuing firmware updates but never are able to fix it. Just poor quality control because I've never had that issue with my Sony android TV I've owned since 2016.

I can confirm this issue. I live in Norway and have a 55DP660 as well. Even installing firmware directly downloaded onto USB from TCL website has not fixed this issue. A frustrating problem, to be sure, but I'm very satisfied with the TV otherwise considering how cheap it was.

Hi,

I have the same issue with my TV 55DP660. the instant power on doesn’t work.

I’ve another trouble, when I’m whatching a film and have a change scene, the TV are turned some dark and I can’t watch the scene very good (in dark scenes or menus)...
