Yes, update and then do a full reset, solves the problems.

i had problems with the microphone on the remote, turns out that it only happens when you also have a keyboard plugged in, but you can fix it with unpairing the remote and then pairing it again.

if you do update you might also see that Chromecast isn't working, i was able to fix it with clearing the data and cache from Chromecast Android Shell and then restarting, though that hasn't worked for everyone.

others have said that all the issues can be fixed with a factory reset after updating, i haven't done that. you shouldn't update for now, unless you want to take risks.

edit: some spelling mistakes

Why do you want to update to 9

What is the secret sause you must have?

Android 8. 1 works flawlessly for me.

Just wondering?

Over all I would say update, it is true that the update is not perfect, but nothing I have seen that is not fixable with clearing the cash and data of the dedicated system app. Chromecast for Chromecast issues, Bluetooth for connection issues (including mic in remote etc.

(This explains why people have success with a factory reset after the update)

Just my 2 ct, I'm not everybody

Hi guys, does anyone have any problems with the 4k resolution, it seems I don't have that option anymore, if someone was able to solve that issue, please advise.

Mine ran great when I first got it. Then I started having issues after the bug fix update from ~4 months back. Factory reset it but still had to restart it daily. Tried changing all the recommended settings like CEC and disabling sleep from Dev Options. No dice.

With the Pie update I now experience loss of WiFi that only works again after rebooting. Sometimes my remote has to be paired again and I experience frequent, random reboots. I have to restart it every time we sit down to use it. I've tried factory resetting and multiple power supplies.

At this point I'm done. My old ass Roku TV still receives updates and nothing breaks. So I just bought a Roku Streaming Stick+ for the family room. It may not have as many functions as the Mi Box S but I couldn't use them anyway.

TL;DR: Proceed at your own risk!

I would wait for next update

Bluetooth audio is still broken. Hulu isn't working, AFR is broken too. On the bright side, full motion deinterlacing is now working. I guess it's up to you? My advice is don't update.
