Anyway to restart just the built in chromecast w/o restarting the tV?

by idontcarethatmuch

I have a Hisense Android TV and periodically, I can't cast to the TV. (The built in chromecast seems to be kinda working, it's showing images, but it doesn't show up in my list of devices from my android phone.)

Restarting the TV fixes it, but going to settings and force stopping the "Chromecast Shell" app doesn't do it.

Is there a way to restart the built in CC w/o restarting the whole thing?

I'm sorry for my English, apparently the last beta causes that problem what I did was unsubscribe from the beta program, uninstalled the updates and updated again. I solve that

Can you tell more about your issue/fixes? I also have a hisense android tv and having issues casting to it

oic thx. I just "uninstalled" my chromecast built-in app, which actually just rolls it's version back, and that got my casting from phone working again. I think you also did same via factory reset. FYI my TV is 65" Hisense 65h6570f and it had an update last month, but I haven't tried casting in awhile so idk if that's related.

Strangely tho now my casting from windows 10 laptop is being flaky and it was fine before /sigh...

When that happens on my Nexus Player, I just go to the System Settings, open the "Cast" menu option (where it just shows the version number and legal stuff), and it starts working again.

On my Mi Box 4 I uninstall and re-install the app. Seems to work. Have to go to the Play Store and then to MyApps or Installed Apps.

Restarting the device is almost always the thing to do. Force stopping closes the app so you would not want to do that if you want the app to work. I would think doing that would make you have to restart the TV to get it back.
