HELP - How to miracast/screen mirroring to Mi box S

by FMAranda

Hi, guys! I have the Mi box S 4K model MDZ-22-AB for a couple of months now and still haven't figure out how to screen mirroring my Redmi Note 4X smartphone. With a Samsung Smart TV I have here in my house, all I have to do is go to the cast menu on my phone and select my TV. I thought that it would be the same with the Mi box, but my phone can't find it. I tried other phones too and they see only the Samsung TV.

I know that if I have the Google Home app on my phone logged into my Google account, I can add the Mi box to my "Home" and then I might be able to mirror the screen, but, I don't use Google account. My phone is "Google-free" (microG user).

Should I be able to screen mirroring like any normal device, by just select the receiver under the list? Can I do that without Google Home app?

BTW, the box is running Pie. The same was happening in Oreo, so it's not the Android version.

Thanks!

Miracast and Chromecast are two different things. Yours Samsung TV has Miracast, but the mi box has Chromecast. You should setup mi box first via Google home app so you can use the Chromebook function. I think also can be done from Chrome browser on 💻 or tablet anything with wireless connectivity.
